Almost 85,000 people receive assistance from Saving Lives humanitarian initiative

It's been four months since the full-scale war in Ukraine began. Peaceful life of thousands of people has suddenly fallen apart because of the Russian aggression. Metinvest Group and DTEK in concert with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation have launched the Saving Lives humanitarian project to support people at these difficult times. The initiative keeps expanding its geography as well as increasing the level of assistance.

Since the onset of the war Saving Lives has been providing a continuous supply of food, essential goods, and medicines to Ukraine from Europe. The humanitarian aid comes to special distribution hubs to be further distributed among the regions that need urgent support.

The project has already delivered 3,146 tonnes of humanitarian aid kits, and 85,453 people have received the assistance, including children, the elderly, and women. Recently, the assistance has been also provided to the families of Metinvest employees conscripted to the army or the territorial defence forces as well as to employees who are welfare beneficiaries.

AID GEOGRAPHY

Saving Lives has delivered 3,146 tonnes of food packages and emergency kits to Ukrainian regions, including 1,141 tonnes to Zaporizhia, 1,009 tonnes to Kryvyi Rih, 549 tonnes to Kamianske and 447 tonnes to Dnipro.

Saving Lives initiative keeps expanding its list of international partners. Currently, the project is supported by almost 90 donors and partners from Germany, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Spain, the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Greece, UAE, and other countries.

In late May, The Do It Together Foundation has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Agritrade Ukraine, the Coordination Centre of the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (known as BMEL). The partners plan to bring 200 tonnes of food and essential goods to Ukraine every month.
In June, IDPs accommodated in Metinvest shelters have already received food packages from Agritrade Ukraine. In addition, the strategic partner provided sweet gifts to children participating in the events organised to mark the Children's Day.

AID IN NUMBERS

Overall, the assistance sourced by Saving Lives will reach up to 100,000 people.

The initiative helps send medicines and medical equipment to Ukraine alongside food packages and essentials. As part of the drive, medical facilities in Zaporizhia and Kamianske have received medicines and consumables worth €238,000. Metinvest Rehabilitation and Reintegration Centres have received 1,500 packets of vitamins for IDPs.

It is important that both big businesses and ordinary people like Metinvest employees get united around Saving Lives and make donations to the Do It Together Foundation. As of today, €1.45 million in aid have been given by donors, operating in mining and metals, commercial, banking, IT, legal, shipping, shipbuilding, heavy engineering and instrumentation sectors.

In total, SCM's biggest businesses, Metinvest Group and DTEK, have provided more than €6.54 million in aid. The Foundation operates on the principles of transparency and regularly reports on its performance.
