Children of Zaporizhzhia Boarding School Receive Gifts from Saving Lives for Education and Leisure

The young people of Zaporizhstal have the boarding school to give children useful gifts from the Saving Lives project.

Students of the boarding school "Svitanok" in Zaporizhzhia have received colourful, interesting and useful gifts from the Saving Lives humanitarian project launched by Metinvest Group in coordination with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. The young people of Zaporizhstal have gifted the children educational literature and educational games.

"Today, we have brought English books, puzzles, and various games to help the children learn English. This will enable the children to improve their knowledge of the international language at an early age," said Anatolii SHYRMA, chief youth liaison specialist at Zaporizhstal.

The high school students appreciated English-language books very much. The students say they are well aware of the need to know a foreign language in today's world.

"English is the language spoken by people in many countries around the world. Knowledge of this language is required for a number of professions, so I plan to learn it well. I thank our friends from Zaporizhstal for the gifts," said Snizhana, a student at "Svitanok".

The younger students also wasted no time: they looked at the gifts and immediately started playing educational games. Aside from entertainment, Metinvest's gifts will also come in handy in the classroom. Teachers plan to use them in the classroom to make learning more interesting and easier for the children.

"We will use the gifted games and books in our English classes. They will also come in handy in the classroom. For example, when we make interdisciplinary connections. So, we are very grateful to the benefactors of Saving Lives, Metinvest and Zaporizhstal for their useful gifts," said Kateryna SHARIKOVA, director of the boarding school "Svitanok".

It should be pointed out that Zaporizhstal has been systematically helping the boarding school "Svitanok" for many years. Thanks to the financial support of the steelmakers, a comfortable educational space was created, and a modern playground and football field were built for students. In addition, children regularly receive useful gifts from the steelworks' youth organisation.

As a reminder, the Saving Lives humanitarian initiative was launched at the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and provides large-scale, continuous assistance to Ukrainians with food and essentials. Over 400,000 people have already received food and hygiene products. Since the war broke out, more than 4,000 tons of vital supplies have been delivered to Ukraine from abroad. Almost 200 companies from around the world have joined the project.
