The Saving Lives humanitarian project will distribute about 17,000 food packages among families with three or more children in Petrove, Lozuvata, Hleyuvatka, Novolativka, Karpivka, and Shyroke communities.
The Saving Lives humanitarian project implemented by Metinvest Group in concert with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation continues supporting Ukrainians in the wartime. Now 890 families with many children in six communities of Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad oblasts will benefit from the assistance, because large families are mostly on low income.
“Lozuvata community accommodates around 800 people from large families, including locals and the displaced. All of them need help badly. Some of the breadwinners became unemployed, others saw their income falling. Thanks to the support, in particular from the Saving Lives humanitarian initiative, these families have food for their children,” said Zoya Zahorodnikh, first deputy head of Lozuvata village.
It is not the first time that large families have received assistance from Metinvest, because they are a vulnerable group. This time, every large family member will receive a food package that contains wheat flour, cereals, pasta, sugar, condensed milk, oil, canned fish and meat. These foodstuffs will help complement the daily diet of large families. One box has enough products to feed an adult for a week.
“We worked with Metinvest closely for many years of peacetime, and now we continue our cooperation during the war. We receive different types of humanitarian aid almost monthly, including food packages for different groups of people living in Petrove community such as the displaced, large families, parents who act as guardians, and even our pensioners, and we have more than 6,000 of them. The project always brings everything on time, the food is of high quality and demand. We are sincerely grateful to such reliable partners and benefactors,” said Natalia Trytiak, a representative of Petrove community.
Along with food products, Metinvest helped arrange accommodation for 850 IDPs in six communities of Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad regions. They received household appliances, utensils, beddings, and construction materials for repairing shelters and private houses where the displaced live now.
“It’s been almost a year since we’ve faced the harsh reality, but this has made us more human and strengthened our commitment to help as much as possible. Over this time, Metinvest has taken great humanitarian efforts under the Saving Lives project. We help people with the essentials such as food, accommodation, and medicines. Residents of 14 communities of Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Kherson, and Donetsk regions have already received more than 135,000 food packages that were formed at a humanitarian hub on the site of Central GOK. We will provide help as long as it is needed,” said Central GOK CEO Dmytro Shevchyk.
