Kryvyi Rih hospitals have received high-tech equipment worth UAH 12.3 million for operating rooms as part of the Saving Lives project launched by Metinvest in concert with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
Logistics problems and destruction of the medical infrastructure caused by Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine have led to a shortage of medicines and special equipment in many Ukrainian hospitals. Saving Lives has expanded its operations to support the medical area. In addition to food packages and hygiene kits, the project sends humanitarian aid convoys with medicines and medical equipment.
The assistance goes to the base hospitals in Kryvyi Rih, Zaporizhia, and Kamianske. Recently, Kryvyi Rih hospital has received a top notch anaesthesia breathing system. The system is used in the intensive care units as well as operating rooms to deliver anaesthetic agents and provide respiratory support to patients.
The project also provided surgical kits, including instruments for vascular surgeries, to help treat patients with different types of wounds, including shrapnel wounds, who are admitted to operating units of one of Kryvyi Rih military hospital. The hospital has high-tech equipment in its disposal now: negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) system, suction device, electrosurgical device, reusable video laryngoscope, eletrodermatome, an operating table, and an operating lamp.
