In May, employees of 30 Zaporizhia utility companies involved in relief efforts after the hostile shelling of the city and its suburbs have received humanitarian aid from the Saving Lives project launched by Metinvest in coordination with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. They benefited from nearly 20,000 humanitarian food and hygiene kits in total.
The food packages traditionally included cereals, canned food, tea, and biscuits. Hygiene kits included shampoo, soap, toothpaste, etc. This was not the first time that Metinvest provided such assistance to the city’s utilities. About 11,000 food packages were distributed among local utility workers in February.
“A large batch of humanitarian aid, nearly 20,000 packages, was delivered from Metinvest’s Zaporizhia hub to the city’s utilities. These packages will go to the local utility workers and their families to show our support and gratitude for their daily work for the sake of Zaporizhia. Our utilities always feel the support of Zaporizhstal and Metinvest. We have repeatedly sent them humanitarian aid kits, protective gear and power equipment, and helped them with equipment to comb the rubble. Such support in times of war is vital – it helps all of us better cope with the challenges of time and work hard to bring Ukraine’s victory closer,” said Natalia Haidukova, Head of the Regional Centre of the Metinvest Humanitarian Hub in Zaporizhia.
Utility workers say that in difficult times of war, this assistance is crucial, and the attention and gratitude for their work motivates them to work even harder, helping Zaporizhia residents go through dire times together and bring victory closer.
Over a year of the full-scale war, the Saving Lives humanitarian project founded by Metinvest Group in concert with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, has become one of the largest charitable initiatives in Ukraine. To date, it has helped about 500,000 Ukrainians in 70 communities. The beneficiaries are primarily vulnerable categories benefiting from food packages, hygiene kits, and other essentials.
Moreover, utilities receive not only humanitarian aid but also protective gear from Metinvest. In particular, 99 top-notch bulletproof vests were handed over by Zaporizhstal to Zaporizhia utility workers that ensure vitality of local communities.
