The Saving Lives humanitarian project expands the range of assistance. Launched by Metinvest Group and DTEK, the largest arms of System Capital Management, the initiative is coordinated by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. Now, the project delivers medicines and consumables for Ukrainian hospitals, in addition to food products for civilians. Currently, the assistance to medical institutions is already worth €238,000.
While our military is bringing the victory of Ukraine closer, socially responsible business is doing everything it takes to make the home front strong by supporting the national economy, and taking care of civilians. The Saving Lives humanitarian project was launched as a joint initiative of Metinvest Group and DTEK in coordination with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation to provide war victims with food and essentials. However, it quickly became clear that this powerful project with developed logistics was able to support the medical system as well. After all, hospitals are now strained to their limit, providing assistance to the wounded and civilian defenders.
Recently, Ukrainian doctors have received medicines and supplies from the humanitarian drive. Saving Lives has delivered the first batch to medical institutions in Zaporizhia and Kamianske, because now these areas have become hubs for receiving refugees and victims fleeing the regions of active hostilities. Thousands of catheters, intravenous cannulas, syringes, blood transfusion systems, and medical gloves were transferred to Zaporizhia military hospital and Kamianske emergency hospital. Nylon and silk surgical threads, haemostatic materials, and other products are already heading for Ukraine from a warehouse in Poland.
The Saving Lives humanitarian project will expand the supply of medicines. Currently, it is purchasing multivitamins for adults and children.
“Ukraine’s strength lies in unity. This is proven every day by millions of ordinary people who do their best to support our country. This is proven every day by businesses that allocate their resources to humanitarian or defence projects. Since the first day of the war, Metinvest Group has been spearheading the assistance drive to help the affected Ukrainians, medics, the Armed Forces, and territorial defenders. We are where the struggle for human lives is going on every day: in hospitals, on the front lines, in centres for IDPs. Because that's how you can stand ground and win,” said Metinvest Group CEO Yuriy Ryzhenkov.
We remind that the Saving Lives humanitarian project provides large-scale continuous assistance, including food and essentials, to Ukraine. For this purpose, two hubs launched in Poland collect, sort out, and prepare cargoes for shipment. In coordination with the government of our country, they are delivered to cities and regions where this support is most needed. The monetary donations also go to the Do it together charitable foundation, which was also joined by Metinvest Group employees.
Since its launch, the humanitarian project has provided assistance — food, essentials, and medicines for hospitals — to more than 40,000 people.
