Ukrainian hospitals receive medicines from Saving Lives

The aid provided to Ukrainian medical institutions by the Saving Lives humanitarian project has reached about €240,000 since the beginning of the war. Thanks to these medicines and equipment, doctors can help more than 70,000 people.

The entire world stands united to save the victims of war, while our enemies show cynicism and brutality. Saving Lives launched by Metinvest Group and DTEK in concert with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation is one of the largest humanitarian initiatives in Ukraine. Initially, its mission was to make regular supplies of foods and necessities from Poland to Ukraine. Later the initiative expanded its scope of assistance, starting to deliver medicines and consumables to hospitals.

AID IN NUMBERS
The total amount spent on the humanitarian goods for Ukrainian hospitals so far is about €240,000.

The first aid convoy reached the hospitals in Zaporizhia and Kamianske, because these localities turned into the reception hubs for displaced persons and victims from combat areas. In addition, the aid is delivered to Kryvyi Rih where Metinvest's facilities are based. The project has already sent thousands of catheters, intravenous cannulas, probes, syringes, blood transfusion systems, sutures, gloves, surgical gowns, plasters, and other supplies to hospitals.

The initiative supplies cutting-edge medical equipment as well. In particular, a local emergency medical hospital in Kamianske has received a universal electrosurgical device used for general, thoracic, and vascular surgery, laparoscopy, orthopaedics, etc. This device ensures high-quality cutting and coagulation with minimal tissue damage during operations.

Kamianske doctors have also received a digital x-ray machine to carry out diagnostics both in the departments and in the wards. With more than 900 anatomical programmes for adults and children, the x-ray machine can perform even complex screening.

FACTS AND FIGURES
Base hospitals that received the assistance from Saving Lives are Zaporizhia Military Hospital, Kamianske City Emergency Hospital, and Kryvyi Rih City Clinical Hospital.

One of the latest convoys was sent to Zaporizhia Military Hospital, which has been long patronised by Metinvest. The medical institution has received UAH 370,000 worth materials for operating rooms.
In addition, Saving Lives purchased 1,500 vitamin packs that were distributed to internally displaced people in the rehabilitation and reintegration centres in Kamianske and Zaporizhia in late spring. It is especially important for them to take care of their health, because many people had been living for weeks without quality food, water, and sunlight.

"The strength of Ukraine is in our unity. Every day, millions of ordinary people who do their best to support our country prove it. Every day, the businesses that pool their resources to roll out humanitarian or defence projects prove it. From the first days of the war, Metinvest Group has been providing assistance to the war-affected Ukrainian civilians, doctors, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and territorial defenders. We are in every place where people fight for saving human lives: at hospitals, on the front lines, and in the IDP support centres. We continue to hold the Steel Front, because this is how we can stand our ground and win,” said Yuriy Ryzhenkov, Metinvest Group's CEO.

Dozens of thousands of people have received aid from Saving Lives since the project's launch, including food, essentials, and medicines for hospitals.
