The assistance has been provided to the utility workers in Zaporizhia as part of the Saving Lives humanitarian project implemented by Metinvest in concert with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
Launched by Metinvest Group in concert with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, the Saving Lives project continues supporting Zaporizhia. The displaced, residents of the communities in areas of hostilities, and vulnerable groups benefit from food aid and hygiene kits distributed by this initiative.
Assistance from Saving Lives reaches Zaporizhia utility workers as well. The other day, nearly 2,000 food packages were handed over to workers of district heating companies.
“These packages are given to every employee. The workers who raise children aged up to 14 years old receive packages for each child. We are very grateful for this help, because in difficult times the company’s employees work very hard to keep the homes of Zaporizhia residents warm,” said Maria Biniuk, the Head of Trade Union of District Heating Networks Company.
The company’s workers in Dniprovsky District received 450 food packages. Nobody was left out.
“We are very grateful for the assistance provided to us. These packages will definitely stand us in good stead. We are glad that our daily work does not go unnoticed and benefactors also give us a helping hand,” said Dmytro Ledney, a fitter of District Heating Networks.
Cobra unit rescuers also received humanitarian aid packages. Metinvest provides continued support to them, having sent body armour earlier.
“This is not the first time we have received humanitarian aid from Metinvest. Before that, the company gave us protective gear, helmets and bulletproof vests. When we do our work after an air strike, another strike is possible, so the body armour is vital for us. We are very grateful to Metinvest Group for their comprehensive assistance,” said Eduard Nekhoroshev, deputy head of Cobra paramilitary emergency rescue service.
Under the Saving Lives project, food packages were also given out to utility workers responsible for housing facilities in Zaporizhia.
“This is not the first time Saving Lives has provided assistance to us. In total, we’ve received 1,038 boxes with food and 113 more boxes for children of our employees,” said Serhiy Bilous, deputy director of Zaporizhremservis utility company.
In total, survival kits from Saving Lives will be distributed among employees of 30 utility companies in Zaporizhia.
“Today, we appreciate the work our utility companies do more than ever. They are the first to come to the sites where enemy missiles land, they repair infrastructure facilities, and bring the supply of heating, gas, and power back on to homes in Zaporizhia. Thus, we’d like to thank them for their hard and important work. Overall, around 11,000 workers of Zaporizhia utility companies will benefit from food packages from Saving Lives,” said Oleh Astafiev, HSE Director of Zaporizhstal.
Saving Lives operates successfully not only in Zaporizhia, but also in other cities and towns where Metinvest Group is present. The project sends humanitarian aid convoys to nearly 70 communities, with most of them based in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhia oblasts. Overall, more than 400,000 Ukrainians have already received diverse assistance under the Saving Lives project.
