Art therapy for unwinding: Oplich Hub in Zaporizhia hosts free sessions

Almost every day, Oplich Hub community centre offers art therapy with creative sessions to unwind, relieve anxiety, and address psychological issues. Sessions are free for adults and children alike.

“Art therapy’s main purpose is to relieve psychological and emotional stress. We have countless exercises with paint, play dough, and paper. For example, we have recently made candles, held a Family Crest master class. But regardless of the specifics, each activity aims to fill a person with new thoughts, help establish communication with inner self,” shares Natalia Popova, Psychologist and Art Therapist at Oplich Hub community centre.

Some participants have shared their impressions of the art therapy, saying that the value of such activities during the all-out war cannot be overestimated.

“It's very relaxing and inspiring to come here after a busy workday and talk to professionals. It helps me feel elevated, and I have more energy to do something new. In addition, I have small children, and they need a lot of my attention and energy. The art therapy classes re-energise me. We draw whatever we want, what comes from our heart and our thoughts, and then we analyse and interpret our drawings. It is very easy and helps me better cope with things that bother me now and understand my feelings,” said a visitor of Oplich Hub Oleksandra Armash.

Oplich Hub gives an opportunity to get free and confidential legal advice, receive psychological assistance, attend yoga classes or simply come and have a relaxing time with your child in the playroom. Just make an appointment in advance by calling or texting +38 (066) 853 78 98 on Telegram or Viber.

Opened in Zaporizhia on 18 July, Oplich Hub was established with the support of the UN Global Compact Ukraine and Metinvest Group’s Saving Lives humanitarian initiative to respond to the need of society for emotional wellbeing support.
