Kryvyi Rih community has already received 15,000 food kits under the Saving Lives humanitarian project implemented by Metinvest Group and DTEK in coordination with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.

Two and a half months into the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Kryvyi Rih has hosted almost 50,000 people from war-torn areas. Ukrainians who have lost their homes and jobs are in dire need of help today. To support them and other vulnerable groups, Metinvest Group has set up two humanitarian hubs in Poland. Humanitarian aid is allocated to Ukrainian centres for distribution, including the one operating on the site of Central GOK in Kryvyi Rih.

“Metinvest employees are demonstrating an incredible level of bravery and resilience. People have not left their workplaces and continue working in production. They understand that the country needs the support of miners and steelmakers and money is needed to strengthen the Army, bring the victory closer, and rebuild the destroyed infrastructure. Humanity is our strength, the fact proven by our volunteers. Every day, more than 50 Central GOK employees work in the distribution hub, forming food packages for the Saving Lives project. To date, we have already handed over 15,000 packages to Kryvyi Rih military administration for further distribution among those who need help,” said Dmytro Shevchyk, CEO of Metinvest Group's Central GOK.

Formed with due regard to the WHO calorie intake recommendations, the packages have food products that will suffice for a weekly consumption: flour, pasta, canned meat, pates, oil, grains, condensed milk, and sugar. They are significant savings and a useful addition to the diet for single-parent or large families, families with children with special needs, or people affected by the war.

“I am a mother of four minor children. The eldest daughter is eight years old, and the youngest child is only eight months old. This help is vital for us. When you have sugar, flour, and oil, you can already prepare food for kids. I think this is a very good cause,” said Maria Bulakh, a mother of the four.
