More Ukrainians receive aid from Saving Lives: 100,000 more a month

The Saving Lives humanitarian initiative continues its efforts to help Ukrainians in the front-line areas, expanding both the geography and the scale of support.

Food products, medicines, and essentials arrive in Ukraine every day from Europe and then are sent to cities, towns, and villages located next to or directly in the combat areas. Dozens of thousands of residents in Avdiivka, Pokrovsk, Zaporizhia, Kamianske, and Kryvyi Rih, as well as the communities in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Kirovohrad oblasts have already benefited from the aid distributed by the project. In total, more than 250,000 people have been supported by the project since its inception.

Over seven months, 3,839 tonnes of essentials have already been delivered to the designated localities of the project: Zaporizhia (1,751 tonnes), Kryvyi Rih (1,023 tonnes), Kamianske (549 tonnes), and Dnipro (516 tonnes). Some aid is delivered then to communities in need in Donbas and Southern Ukraine. The remaining part is distributed in the designated localities. The primary beneficiaries are socially vulnerable groups: mothers with many children, people with disabilities, pensioners, displaced people, and families of Metinvest's mobilised employees. In addition, the aid is used to make strategic provision reserves in the front-line localities in case the situation worsens.

Additional areas of focus is provision of hospitals with high-tech equipment, consumables, and medicines. The assistance goes to the designated hospitals in Kryvyi Rih, Zaporizhia, and Kamianske.

The humanitarian initiative sources its finding not only from SCM's businesses. Being one of the main donor of the project, Metinvest also helps address humanitarian aid procurement, logistics, and storage issues. International partners - businesses, philanthropists, and others - are also joining efforts to help Ukrainians: about 90 companies and organisations from three continents. The project has received €2.137 million in donations.
