Saving Lives Humanitarian Project opens the second hub in Poland to ensure uninterrupted aid delivery

Saving Lives Humanitarian Project has opened the second logistics hub in Poland to ensure uninterrupted delivery of food, medicines, and essentials to Ukrainian cities, stated head of the project Oleksandr Vyshniakov. According to him, Metinvest Poland helped establish a logistics centre on its site to accumulate humanitarian aid from all over the world:

“Today, we have launched the second hub to ensure uninterrupted food supply to our distribution centres located in four Ukrainian cities to help local residents of Avdiivka, Pokrovsk, Zaporizhia, Kryvyi Rih, and Kamianske.” Both hubs receive two kinds of assistance: from donors and partners, as well as assistance bought at own expense. “Among the countries that have already provided assistance to Ukraine are Romania, the Baltic countries, the Netherlands, Germany, and Poland. We have demonstrated a basic food package developed by the WHO, it is well-balanced and good enough for Europe and the entire world. It includes oil, sugar, and cereals. Also, the countries are transferring funds.”

According to Oleksandr Vyshniakov, Saving Lives project is waiting for green corridors to Mariupol to efficiently deliver essentials to the city facing the humanitarian disaster. “We understand that we need an absolutely safe corridor not to endanger people’s lives. Thus, we are waiting for the corridor to be opened so that we can deliver aid. Our drivers, food, transport – everyone and everything is ready to go at any moment,” he noted.

Backed by the government, SCM’s Metinvest and DTEK have joined efforts with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation to establish the Saving Lives Humanitarian Project to collect food products for those most affected by the Russian invasion. As reported earlier, the Ukrainians have already received 117 tonnes of food.
