Support of international football community: fans raise funds to help Ukrainians in the front-line areas

In a Champions League fixture against RB Leipzig that took place on 6 September, FC Shakhtar showed a stunning performance to beat the German club 4:1. It also held a charity action together with the Saving Lives project to raise funds for the purchase of humanitarian aid for Ukraine's front-line areas.

This joint humanitarian effort of RB Leipzig, FC Shakhtar, and Saving Lives raised small donations for use of multi-use glasses at the stadium. This simple system helped raised over UAH 200,000. This approach to raising funds for Ukrainians will be replicated at further fixtures of the club.

Shakhtar's Football Director Darijo Srna, an ambassador of the Saving Lives initiative, emphasised that the football community has been supporting Ukraine and Ukrainians since the first days of their battle.

"Football fans from all over Europe got united to help Ukraine and its people. There is not doubt that our joint humanitarian initiatives implemented as part of Saving Lives project that has already helped thousands of people will be supported by the fans of Shakhtar and other football clubs", said Darijo Srna.

He emphasised that he has been doing and will continue to do everything he can to ensure that Ukraine and the fight of Ukraine against invaders remain on the top of the agenda of Europe and the entire world.
