The Saving Lives project launched by SCM businesses keeps on providing humanitarian aid to residents of the frontline regions and supporting those who used to work at the company’s enterprises for many years. Recently, retirees of Kametstal plant operated by Metinvest Group (Kamianske, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast) have received another humanitarian aid convoy from the initiative.
Metinvest, one of the project owners, understands that former steelmakers and coking engineers need care and support more than ever, and therefore the project provides regular assistance to the beneficiaries. In 2022, Kametstal retirees received more than 10,000 food packages, and the plant’s employees received 22,000 food sets from the humanitarian initiative. This time, Saving Lives has brought more than 2,000 packages with non-perishable foodstuffs such as flour, cereals, pasta, sugar, tinned goods, condensed milk, etc.
Former employees of the plant highly appreciate this aid.
“I had worked at the plant for over 40 years. I’m very pleased that the company cares about us now that we retired. Metinvest has brought another humanitarian aid convoy, and it is very important to us today. Thank you very much for your support,” said Lidia Yarosh, a retired employee of the plant.
Overall, the project has helped more than 420,000 people in 70 local communities over the year, and its scope and focus areas keep expanding.
