Ukraine's biggest humanitarian initiative Saving Lives to take part in the post-war rebuilding of the country

The management and brand ambassadors of Rinat Akhmetov's Saving Lives project have met to discuss half-year results and plans of the initiative.

The meeting of members of the Programme Council and Supervisory Boards of the SCM project, as well as the management of the Do it Together foundation highlighted the key achievements of the humanitarian mission over six months. The achievements are impressive: 220,000 Ukrainians in 37 communities of Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Kirovohrad, and Zaporizhia regions have already benefited from the aid provided by Saving Lives. It includes food packages, essentials, medicines, etc. Residents of the flashpoints such as Avdiivka can access aid as well. The aid is primarily distributed among socially vulnerable categories and IDPs. This makes Saving Lives one of the largest initiatives in Ukraine to support victims of Russian aggression.

The project plans to expand its geography, areas of focus, and aid intensity. To achieve these goals, the initiative is working now to attract new donors. According to Yulia Dankova, a member of the Supervisory Board, Saving Lives takes its strength from the vertical integration of processes, which includes fundraising and procurement, logistics and aid delivery to final beneficiaries. This approach ensures absolute transparency, as the project can show donors how the funds were spent and how exactly they helped Ukrainians.

In addition to expanding the current areas of focus, Saving Lives has started planning its participation in the post-war rebuilding efforts. Horst Wiesinger, a global steel expert and a member of the Programme Council, highlighted the importance of thinking about the future even while the war is still going on.

"Now is the time we should start implementing the initiatives that will seek to rebuild Ukraine, economically, socially, culturally. When the long-awaited peace comes to the country, we will already have delivered results that will help bring the joint successful future of Ukraine and Europe closer," he underlined.
